MAKE A COMMITMENT TO BREEDING RAGDOLLS

 

PLEASE DO NOT APPLY TO BECOME A PROBATIONERY BREEDER UNTIL YOU HAVE ATTENDED
A FULL DAY TEACH-IN WHERE THE FOLLOWING TOPICS WILL BE DISCUSSED

 

• Good Husbandry and preparing for your first litter of kittens

• Study Pattern & Prediction and the complexities of Ragdoll genetics

• How to assess the Ragdoll for type

• What constitutes Show Potential

• Examine the Ragdoll Breeding & Registration Policies

• Understand the Ragdoll Breeders Code of Ethics

• Assess the exhibits for type, temperament, eye colour and conformation

 

Now is a good time to apply for your own Prefix. Write to the GCCF for a Prefix Application Form and once completed send it to the Honorary Secretary of TBRCC for signing.

 


ONCE YOU HAVE ATTENDED A FULL DAY TEACH-IN YOU CAN APPLY
TO BECOME A PROBATIONERY BREEDER

     

    An experienced TBRCC Registered Breeder will be assigned to you as a mentor.

    Complete the Registered Breeders Application Form, remembering to have it proposed by a current Registered Breeder and countersigned and stamped by your vet to confirm that you have registered.

    Attach the undernoted documents

     

    • Copies of your breeding cats' transfer certificates and pedigrees

    • A recent photograph of each cat for the archives

    • A copy of the registration document of your first litter of kittens

    • A cheque for the appropriate amount as detailed on the Registered Breeders Application

     

    The breeders fees will be used towards the advertising budget which covers the following:

     

    • The services of the Kitten List Holders who will give details of your kittens to prospective buyers

    • Inclusion in the Kitten List on the club's website, www.tbrcc.co.uk

    • Inclusion in the club's adverts in various cat magazines

     


REAR A LITTER OF RAGDOLL KITTENS

 

    If you are unsure how to grade your kittens, don't be shy about asking an experienced breeder or your mentor to come and help you to assess the litter when they are about 9-10 weeks old, when the kittens have been assessed and have had their first health check and vaccinations.

     

    • Contact the Kitten List Holder who will add the kittens to the list

    • Advise her of the kittens' date of birth, sex, colour and pattern

     


ATTEND AN ADVANCED SEMINAR WITHIN 24 MONTHS

     

    • Re-examine Pattern & Prediction

    • Focus on the Extremes of Pattern

    • Assess the exhibits for type, temperament, eye colour and conformation

     

     

ONCE YOU HAVE COMPLETED ALL THE RELEVANT CRITERIA AND SIGNED TO AGREE
TO ABIDE BY TBRCC REGISTERED BREEDERS CODE OF ETHICS, YOUR NAME WILL
BE ADDED TO THE FULL BREEDERS' LIST. YOU MAY BE ASKED TO BECOME A MENTOR
TO A PROBATIONER BREEDER IN DUE COURSE.
